Huntsville April 11, 2012

Today we woke up at 6:30 a.m. , got ready and went for the bright side breakfast at 8:50 a.m.
And from there Mr. Ralf took us to the moonbuggy garage , we made the banner and stick all the sponsor’s logos.

Then we pasted the sponsor’s logos on our Moonbuggy. Later, we accompanied Mr. Ralf Seeger in clicking the beautiful locations of the small town.

We went to Big spring park, the Panorama Road- Mount Santo and we were on our way to Tennesse river when we got a call for a photo shoot from Mr. Ralf, so we came back to our moonbuggy garage.

Also we volunteered today for preparing Indian cuisine as a dinner for everyone in the garage, and we brought Indian noodles “maggi” from our hometown, and prepared the same along with Indian scrambled eggs , and roasted chicken pieces.

While we were busy preparing the dinner, photo shoot of other teams was going on. We went to perform a video on the completion our moonbuggies and then got some pictures clicked for the same.

After this whole process, we announced the dinner was ready and served it with a surprise for Mr. Ralf.
After the dinner , Mr. Ralf called a meeting and explained us the schedule for next 3 days. He prepared us with all the pros & cons and gave each minute detail of the competition.

After the meeting we packed up and came back to our hotel and to our surprise there was another Indian team , in the hotel for the same competition, Mr. Ralf and we introduced ourselves to our native friends , they were from Punjab Engineering College , Chandigarh , India.

From there Mr. Ralf took them to the moonbuggy garage to show them , what we do , how we do and explained them.

We came back to our rooms and the day was ended.

Huntsville April 10, 2012

Today is the penultimate day before the competition. He promised to be very busy and productive.

We have the whole day working on the buggy. Eugene cut excess metal on the bottom part under the seat box with telemetry which much smaller than the old, metal rubbing on it. Just Eugene has eliminated the problem of chatter in the right front wheel went over mount. Before lunch, the boys cleaned out all the details, some painted with special paint that prevents corrosion. Roman helped the Italian team. In the buggy all the time label of failure, but now the guys are all eliminated. You can begin to design registration.

For lunch we tried another Italian dish - rice with the sauce. Disgusting turned rice, Marco, the guy who cooks it, could not even give it a try. But all were very hungry, so food is quickly ended.

After dinner, proceeded to the most beautiful part of the work on the buggy- dressing on the seat covers,  placement of sponsor's logo, decorating buggies. Tightened umbrella antenna, put the alarm horn. At first it seems that this is an easy job, but in reality, it took us half a day! Any change requires attention to themselves, things do not  exist.

In the evening we had a photo shoot. Has been specially invited professional photographer from Leipzig. His name is Ralph, he made us a photo session. I have not yet seen the pictures, I want to see. After that, we're a little ride on the munbaggi, staged a special training: Max did an imitation of the race track, a special disc with a narrow path on which it was necessary to go and shoot down the rack. I got a third time, then I was free to increased speed, maneuvered. Roman managed the 1st time. That's what a good racer.

The guys from India today have prepared their own food, it was spaghetti, ham and eggs are unusual, seemingly products of the same, but using different spices and other cooking techniques, taste turns very peculiar. The food was very tasty.

Huntsville, den 10. April 2012

Heute begann der Tag ganz normal mit Frühstück um 8 und Abfahrt zur Moonbuggy Garage um 9:15 Uhr. Heute sollte der letze Mechanik-Tag sein, also sollen nach diesem Tag alle Moonbuggys fahrbereit sein. Heute Vormittag haben alle Teams die letzen Probleme gelöst, dokumentiert wurde dies durch den Fotographen Ralf Seegers, der gestern angekommen ist. Es wurden alle Buggys fertiggestellt bis auf das italienisch-indische Buggy, welchem noch ein schon bestelltes Laufrad fehlt. Vor dem Mittagessen konnten wir gemeinsam mit dem Team Germany 2 eine Testfahrt machen, wobei auch alles funktioniert hat. Max hat einen Parkour auf dem Hof aufgebaut auf dem wir üben können.

Nachmittags haben wir uns dem Bekleben der Buggys mit den Sponsorenstickern gefasst. Dies hat sich über den ganzen Nachmittag hingezogen. Alle Teams hatten noch Zeit um auf dem Parkour zu trainieren, wobei sich das italienisch-indische Buggy vom Team Germany 2 das fehlende Laufrad geliehen hat. Abends haben wir dann noch Teamfotos gemacht , damit wir in der Presse präsent sind. Später gab es dann noch ein Meeting, indem wir noch einmal geklärt haben wie die Renntage aufgebaut sind.

Max und ich konnten noch ein paar Mal testen wie das auseinanderklappen funktioniert. Dabei hat alles geklappt und wir werden es in den nächsten Tagen noch einige Male üben, um auf eine gute Zeit zu kommen.

Today the whole day we worked in the garage. In the morning we had a briefing. We talked about upcoming events, this year NASA announced several new competitions: Telemetry award and best report award. Ralph invited Evgene to compete for the prize of the best report. Also collected first buggy will include telemetry.

After the general meeting, we are i, Roman and Eugene organized our collection. Set goals for the day.

Eugene checked again the mechanism. Cut out four lids to close the suspension bushings, removed bug with the chain, the latter had very rattled, had we stood a spacing collar between the holes of its Jack now replaced by n-type bridge and painted it in a nice silver color. After that, Jack was very happy, but not for long, with a buggy always something happening.

Roman at this time removed the following problem: between the front wheels is a connector, it is a hollow tube which is sealed at the ends by means of cold welding studs with thread. Yesterday, when the Italians first tested a buggy, they have an accident due to the fact that this is the connector was broken at the junction of cold welding. Roman has eliminated this problem as follows: at the ends of the connector, he drilled two holes, of course he did all the necessary technical regulations. They have eliminated the problem. Tested the buggy, no new errors were found.
The car is much better and smoother. At the end of the day the guys just wanted to replace the rear tires as they are not very suitable for the routes are Great Moonbuggy race. But at this moment broke the compressor and the boys, along with Ralph it repaired. I trained during the day, wrote report, cooked we trained in a Romann riding at speed and in the folding and unfolding moonbuggy. We decompose the construction of 5.6 seconds, last year's record was 4 seconds.

The day passed very fruitful.

Hunstville, 09.04.2012

Questa mattina ci siamo subito diretti in garage saltando il nostro giro visite mattutino di Huntsville, poichè mancano ormai solo pochi giorni alla gara e c'è ancora molto da lavorare.

Appena arrivati abbiamo fatto un briefing in cui Ralf ci ha illustrato delle informazioni tecniche sulla Gara e sui premi in palio a cui possiamo candidarci (premio per il miglior report, premio per il miglior Rookie Team, premio per il Moonbuggy più sicuro...).

Quindi abbiamo ripreso a costruire il nostro Moonbuggy.  A causa della ruota anteriore sinista rotta per l'incidente di due giorni fa, abbiamo prima di tutto dovuto fare un inventario di tutti i pezzi mancanti che Cini e Roman sono andati a comprare nella mattinata: i raggi e il cerchione della ruota, le impugnature dei manubri posteriori, l'appoggia piedi del co-pilota, e i pedali che si possono usare con e senza clip.

Così una volta in possesso dei nuovi acquisti siamo potuti tornare al lavoro.
Abbiamo:
-saldato i parafanghi
-connesso il freno a entrambe le ruote anteriori
-creato i manubri e le marce per il sedile posteriore
-fissato i nuovi pedali
